Japan begins with a contrast: the lasting shape of a mountain and the brief arrival of blossom. One feels steady, the other temporary. Together, they give the collection its sense of quiet attention.

A restrained palette lets the smallest marks carry meaning. Charcoal ridges soften into pale mist; a rose-coloured branch crosses the foreground; a muted sun brings warmth to the open sky. The curve reveals these elements gradually, like a view unfolding along a path.
